Afghan batsman Ihsanullah Jannat has been banned from all formats for five years, while the board has also issued an explanation.
Afghan cricket team’s top-order batsman, Ihsanullah Jannat, had violated the Afghanistan Cricket Board and ICC anti-corruption codes.
The Afghan Cricket Board issued a statement on Wednesday stating that the batsman had violated anti-corruption codes during the Kabul Premier League.
According to the board, the action was taken after violating Article 1.1.2 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code: improper influence or attempts to correct conduct during a match or any other aspect of the match, in accordance with this article.
According to the Afghan Cricket Board, the batsman has been banned from all forms of cricket for five years due to the violation. The board had to say that Ihsanullah Jannat had accepted the allegations against him while admitting his involvement in suspicious activities.
The Afghan Cricket Board’s anti-corruption unit has revealed that three more players are suspected of being involved in similar activities, but investigations are ongoing.
The decision regarding the above three players will be taken after the investigation. Ihsanullah Jannat debuted against the Netherlands in the 2015-17 ICC International Cup.
Ihsanullah Jannat played 3 Tests and 16 ODIs for Afghanistan, scoring 437 runs.
