The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons claimed their maiden Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title after defeating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the 2026 final in Bridgetown.
Batting first, the Jamaica Kingsmen posted 170 for 9 from their 20 overs, with Maaz Sadaqat producing a sensational innings of 114 from 58 balls. His knock included eight fours and nine sixes and accounted for more than half of Jamaica’s total.
The Kingsmen endured a difficult start after Kirk McKenzie was dismissed for a four-ball duck by Jayden Seales in the opening over. Keacy Carty then fell for 9 in the fourth over, leaving Jamaica at 30 for 2.
Sadaqat steadied the innings alongside Saim Ayub, with the pair adding 80 runs for the third wicket. They took Jamaica from 30 for 2 to 110 for 2, with Sadaqat attacking the Falcons’ bowlers regularly.
However, Sufyan Moqim turned the match around with a superb spell. He dismissed Ayub for 29 before removing Rovman Powell for a duck, triggering a dramatic collapse. Jamaica slipped from 110 for 2 to 113 for 6 in just three overs.
Sadaqat continued to fight from the other end and reached his century, but wickets kept falling around him. He was eventually dismissed off the penultimate delivery of the innings, leaving Jamaica with 170 for 9.
Moqim finished with outstanding figures of 4 for 14, while Shamar Joseph claimed two wickets for 27 runs.
The Falcons made an explosive start to their chase. Rahkeem Cornwall smashed two fours and two sixes from Saim Ayub in the opening over before being bowled by the final delivery. Despite his early dismissal, the 20-run over immediately reduced the pressure of the chase.
Evin Lewis and Amir Jangoo then put the Falcons firmly in control with a 64-run partnership. Lewis scored 38 before Vitel Lawes dismissed him, but Antigua had already taken a significant step towards victory.
Jangoo was joined by Hasan Nawaz, and the pair completely took the game away from the Kingsmen. Their unbeaten 89-run partnership featured seven fours and six sixes.
Jangoo finished unbeaten on 57, while Nawaz scored 47 not out as the Falcons reached 173 for 2 in 16.4 overs, completing an eight-wicket victory with 20 balls remaining.
The result gave Antigua and Barbuda Falcons their first CPL title in just their third season. Jamaica Kingsmen, meanwhile, finished runners-up in their debut campaign.
Falcons allrounder Shadab Khan was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after contributing 132 runs and 11 wickets during the competition.
