The ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), will officially begin in the United Arab Emirates on October 3. In the mega event, ten women’s teams will compete for the title. The Australian women’s team will look to defend their title. The match between the women’s teams of Pakistan and India will be played on October 6 in Dubai.
Two matches will be played on the opening day of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The first match will be played between the women’s teams of Bangladesh and Scotland in Sharjah, while the second match will be played between the women’s teams of Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the same venue.
After 20 matches in the tournament, the first semi-final match is scheduled for October 17; the second semi-final match is scheduled for October 18, and the final game is scheduled for October 20. The series of warm-up matches before the Women’s T20 World Cup will start on September 28, in which each team will play two warm-up matches.
The ten teams participating in the mega event include defending champions Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, England, West Indies and Scotland. Defending champions Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka will be in Group A, while England, South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies and Scotland will be in Group Two.
Each team will play one match with the other teams of their group, while the first two teams of both groups will qualify for the semi-finals. All the knockout matches will be played in the semi-finals and finals in Sharjah and Dubai. The ICC has already announced the match officials for the Women’s T20 World Cup.
The 13 match officials announced for the Women’s T20 World Cup include all women. For the second time in history, all women match officials will oversee the tournament. According to the ICC, the 13-member panel includes three referees and 10 umpires. C has said that the match referees belong to India, South Africa and Sri Lanka, in which the match referees GS Lakshmi (India), Shandre Fritz (South Africa) and Michelle Perera belong to Sri Lanka.
The 10 women umpires of the Women’s T20 World Cup are from England, Australia, West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and India, including Vrinda Rathi from India in the on-field and TV umpires.
Ann Janani, Sue Redfern from England, Elvis Sheridan and Claire Polosak from Australia, Jacqueline Williams from West Indies, Kim Cotton from New Zealand, Lauren Egenbeg from South Africa, Anna Harris from England, Nimali Perera from Sri Lanka. The first semi-final match will be played in Dubai on October 17, the second semi-final match will be played in Sharjah on October 18, and the final game will be played in Dubai on October 20.
