Like every international competition, the T20 World Cup 2024 also created many new stories. Many historical records were established during this World Cup, full of speed and excitement.
Most sixes:
For the first time in the history of the ICCT20 World Cup, 500 sixes were hit in one tournament, and India’s Akshar Patel hit this 500th six during the second semi-final.
Earlier, 405 sixes were hit in 45 matches in the T20 World Cup 2021, 331 in 42 matches in 2022, 314 in 2016, and 300 in the 2014 T20 World Cup.
This new record of the most 500 sixes in a T20 World Cup is now on its way. Where this record will stop will be determined after the final match between India and South Africa tomorrow.
Most fours:
Indian batsman Rohit Sharma holds the record for most fours in T20 World Cup history. Rohit Sharma has hit 113 fours in 43 innings of the T20 World Cup.
Earlier, this record was held by Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka, who hit 111 fours in 31 innings of the T20 World Cup. India’s star player, Virat Kohli, is third on the list of the most fours in the World Cup.
Most wickets:
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc dismissed Bangladeshi batsman Tanzid Hasan in the Super 8 stage to claim the record for the total number of wickets in the T20 and ODI Cricket World Cup.
He took 95 wickets in the World Cup in both formats. Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Lesotho Malinga held the record for the highest total of 94 wickets in ODIs and T20 World Cups.
Shortest innings in a semi-final match:
Afghanistan has created the record of playing the shortest innings in the history of T20 World Cup semi-final matches. Batting first against South Africa in the first semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup jointly hosted by America and West Indies, the entire team of Afghanistan was bowled out for only 56 runs in 11.5 overs.
Fortunately, Afghanistan could not become the team to play the shortest innings in the history of the T20 World Cup. The team that played the shortest innings in the history of the T20 World Cup is the Netherlands, who were all out in just 60 balls while playing against Sri Lanka in T20 World Cup 2021.
