Women’s cricket has got a new T20 champion. New Zealand Women won the T20 World Cup for the first time.
The South African team failed to reach the final for the second time in a row and could not claim the title after losing to New Zealand.
In the final played in Dubai, South Africa was restricted to 126 runs, chasing 159 runs. African captain Lauravo Lovart scored 33 runs, while Ameliakar and Rose Marie Meyer took three wickets each.
Earlier, New Zealand batted first and scored 158 runs for five wickets. Amelia stood out with 43, Brooke 38 and Suzie Bates 32 runs.
Malabaki 2, De Klerk, Tryon and Khaka took one wicket each for South Africa.
