Mitchell Starc has climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings for the first time in his career following his outstanding performance against Bangladesh in the second Test in Mackay.
Starc claimed 10 wickets in the match, taking 6 for 12 in the first innings and 4 for 39 in the second, as Australia defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs to level the series.
The performance lifted Starc two places to No. 1, pushing India’s Jasprit Bumrah down to second, while New Zealand’s Matt Henry slipped to third.
Australia captain Pat Cummins also moved up one place to fourth after taking six wickets in the match, while Nathan Lyon climbed two spots into the top 10 following his three-wicket haul in the second innings.
England’s Ollie Robinson made one of the biggest jumps in the rankings after making an impressive return to Test cricket. Robinson claimed eight wickets against Pakistan at Headingley as England won by an innings and 103 runs, climbing 15 places to 11th.
Josh Tongue, who also took eight wickets in the match, rose 16 places to 17th.
Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando and Prabath Jayasuriya each moved up five places to 15th and 16th respectively following their performances against India in Galle. Fernando claimed six wickets, while Jayasuriya finished with seven.
In the batting rankings, England’s Harry Brook retained the No. 1 position after scoring 91 against Pakistan.
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant climbed six places to seventh after scores of 39 and 66 against Sri Lanka, returning to the top 10.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis and India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped out of the top 10 after struggling for runs in Galle.
