Consultations on the squads for the national cricket team’s tour of South Africa have entered the final stage.
According to sources, there will be a strong squad for the ODI series, in which former captain Babar Azam and fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi will return.
Sources also say that keeping the Champions Trophy in mind, Fakhar Zaman’s team has been declared a necessity, so there is a strong possibility of Fakhar’s return to the white-ball team.
Regarding the 2-Test series against South Africa, sources say that Imam-ul-Haq’s name is also being considered for the red-ball team, while senior batters and bowlers can be rested in the T20 series, so it has been agreed to give a chance to young players.
Sources say that the squads are expected to be announced after the end of the ODI series against Zimbabwe or the first T20 match, while plans are also underway to set up a camp for Test players in South Africa.
It should be remembered that the Pakistan team is scheduled to play a series of 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 2 Test matches in South Africa. The white-ball and red-ball series will be played from December 10 to January 7.
