Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has joined Surrey for their next four matches in the ongoing Vitality Blast. He will be available starting from the double-header fixture against Essex on July 6 at the Kia Oval, which includes both the men’s and women’s teams.
Zampa is Australia’s top wicket-taker in T20I cricket with 117 wickets. He was the first Australian to take over 100 wickets in the format and played key roles in Australia’s T20 World Cup win in 2021 and the 50-over World Cup triumph in 2024. In total, he has taken 363 wickets in T20 cricket across various leagues, including the IPL, Big Bash League, and The Hundred. He helped Oval Invincibles win back-to-back titles in The Hundred in 2023 and 2024.
Earlier this year, Zampa played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL but had to cut short his stint due to a shoulder injury. He played only two games as an Impact Sub and returned home after experiencing soreness in his bowling arm.
Speaking about his return to England, Zampa said, “I can’t wait to get going for Surrey and to play in front of the Kia Oval crowd once again. It’s one of the great grounds in the world to play the game.”
Zampa will also feature in Surrey’s upcoming matches against Gloucestershire in Bristol, Glamorgan on July 11, and Somerset on July 13. If Surrey qualify for the knockout stages, he will be available for the quarter-finals and Finals Day in September.
Alec Stewart, High Performance Cricket Advisor at Surrey, said, “Adam Zampa is one of the finest T20 spinners in world cricket. He brings experience, skills, and great character to the squad.”
Meanwhile, the Australian national team is currently in the West Indies for a Test series, which will be followed by five T20Is starting July 21 in Kingston.
