Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh achieved a significant milestone in T20 cricket, becoming India’s highest wicket-taker in the format.
On Wednesday, during the first T20I of the five-match series against England in Kolkata, Arshdeep claimed two crucial wickets, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal’s record to take the top spot.
The 24-year-old pacer, who made his T20I debut in 2022, now has 97 wickets in just 61 matches. Before this, the record was held by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who took 96 wickets in 79 T20I matches for India.
In the match, England batted first but struggled against India’s bowling attack, getting all out for just 132 runs. Arshdeep’s performance with the ball played a key role in restricting the visitors to a modest total.
India comfortably chased down the target, scoring 133 runs with seven wickets in hand by the 13th over. The hosts now lead the five-match series 1-0.
Arshdeep Singh’s rise in T20 cricket has been remarkable, and this record further solidifies his position as one of India’s premier bowlers in the shortest format of the game. Fans and cricket experts are eagerly looking forward to seeing him achieve the 100-wicket milestone in upcoming matches.
