Following India’s successful defence of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for the squad.
“The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” the BCCI said in a statement.
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Posting 255 for 5, India’s top three batters – Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan – all scored half-centuries, setting up a massive total. Jasprit Bumrah then turned the game around with a match-winning spell of 4 for 15 in four overs, restricting New Zealand to 159.
This victory marks India’s third T20 World Cup title, making them the first team to win the tournament consecutively. Previously, West Indies (2012, 2016) and England (2010, 2022) had won the title twice. India also became the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil.
With this triumph, India now hold both the Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup titles, and they will aim to add the ODI World Cup title next year, completing a historic triple in men’s cricket.
