The 2-day player bidding ceremony for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2025 began yesterday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in which franchises bought the best players for crores of rupees to include them in their teams.
IPL 2025 will be the 18th edition of this tournament, which will be played between March and May next year.
For this tournament, 10 franchises spent crores of rupees to include the best players in the world in their teams.
On Sunday, Punjab Kings first bought Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer for 267.5 million Indian rupees, after which Shreyas became the most expensive player in the history of IPL.
But this record was broken moments later when Lucknow Supergiants made the highest bid in the history of IPL for Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant.

Apart from this, the third most expensive player of IPL 2025 was Indian cricketer Venkatesh Iyer, who was added to their team by Kolkata Knight Riders for 23 crores 75 lakhs, while Indian fast bowler Arsdeep Singh and spinner Chahal were bought by Punjab Kings for 18 crores 18 crores each.
While franchises have spent crores of rupees on players, there are also some big names in the world of cricket who were not bought by any team for IPL 2025.
Big cricketers who did not get a place in any team of IPL 2025:
Australia’s David Warner, Steve Smith, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell were not bought by any team.
Apart from this, India’s Prithvi Shah, West Indies’ Shai Hope, Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey, experienced England spinners Adil Rashid, Jonny Bairstow and James Anderson, Zimbabwe’s Sikander Raza were also not interested in buying by any franchise.
