Cricket Australia has lifted the ban on David Warner from becoming captain.
Cricket Australia’s Conduct Commission has lifted former opener David Warner’s captaincy ban after 6-and-a-half years after a re-examination.
David Warner, retired from international cricket and active in league cricket, can become the captain, while David Warner is also eligible to captain Sydney Thunder in BBL.
According to Cricket Australia, Warner met all the criteria for which the three-member panel lifted the ban.
David Warner also gave statements to the Conduct Commission, while Pat Cummins, Andrew MacDonald, Greg Chappell, Lisa Thaliker and Ken Williamson gave character references at the hearing.
Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley expressed his happiness over David Warner’s captaincy ban being lifted.
It should be noted that David Warner was banned in 2018 after the ball-tampering sandpaper scandal, and at that time, Cricket Australia imposed a lifetime leadership ban on David Warner.
