The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2024, with Afghanistan’s all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai taking home the prestigious honor.
The nominees for the award included Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis and Wanindu Hasaranga, and West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford. The ICC revealed the winner on Monday, naming Omarzai as the recipient of the award.
Azmatullah Omarzai has made history by becoming the first Afghan cricketer to win the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award. His remarkable performances throughout 2024 earned him this recognition.
In 2024, Omarzai delivered exceptional all-round performances, scoring 417 runs and taking 17 wickets in just 14 ODI matches. His contributions were instrumental in Afghanistan’s success on the international stage.
In addition to this accolade, Omarzai has also been named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2024, further solidifying his status as one of the top performers in the format.
