After an eight-day hiatus, the 2025 IPL season resumes this Saturday with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru. With Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals already eliminated, the remaining 13 league matches will determine which four of the remaining seven teams make it to the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans (16 points)
Remaining matches: vs DC (A), vs LSG (H), vs CSK (H)
Currently on top of the table, Gujarat Titans are well-positioned to secure a playoff spot. One win from their final three games will take them to 18 points—likely enough for qualification. Winning all three would guarantee a top-two finish. However, three straight losses could see them miss out, as RCB, PBKS, MI, and DC could all finish with more than 16 points.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (16 points)
Remaining matches: vs KKR (H), vs SRH (H), vs LSG (A)
RCB also need just one more win to confirm a playoff berth. With two home games left, including a clash against already-eliminated SRH, their path looks comfortable. Winning all three would likely secure a top-two finish, while two wins (20 points) might not be enough if GT and PBKS keep winning. Even with three losses, RCB could still sneak through if other results go in their favour.
Punjab Kings (15 points)
Remaining matches: vs RR (A), vs DC (H – Jaipur), vs MI (H – Jaipur)
Punjab Kings are enjoying one of their best seasons in recent memory. Two wins from three games will seal their playoff berth, and even one might be enough depending on how MI and DC fare. A top-two finish is possible if they win all remaining matches or reach 19 points and GT/RCB falter. However, losing all three would likely end their campaign unless other results align perfectly in their favour.
Mumbai Indians (14 points)
Remaining matches: vs DC (H), vs PBKS (A – Jaipur)
MI’s six-match winning streak was halted by Gujarat, but the five-time champions remain in control of their fate. Winning both matches will take them to 18 points and into the playoffs. Even one more win could be enough if other contenders like DC or LSG drop points. Their strong net run rate could play a decisive role in tie-break scenarios.
Delhi Capitals (13 points)
Remaining matches: vs GT (H), vs MI (A), vs PBKS (A – Jaipur)
Delhi need at least two wins from their final three games to stay in contention. Winning all three would take them to 19 points and possibly a top-two finish. But two wins, especially if one comes against MI, might be enough for a top-four finish. Three losses would eliminate them. A finish on 15 points would leave their fate hanging on net run rate and other results.
Kolkata Knight Riders (11 points)
Remaining matches: vs RCB (A), vs SRH (A – Delhi)
KKR’s playoff chances are hanging by a thread. They must win both remaining games and hope for multiple favourable results. Even then, net run rate could be their undoing, as they currently have the lowest among top-six teams. A multi-team tie at 15 points remains their only realistic shot, though it’s a complex and unlikely scenario.
Lucknow Super Giants (10 points)
Remaining matches: vs SRH (H), vs GT (A), vs RCB (H)
LSG are in a must-win situation. Another defeat will officially eliminate them. Even winning all three won’t guarantee a spot unless other results go their way. Their negative net run rate compounds the difficulty, making them one of the most vulnerable teams in the remaining race.
With just 13 games left in the league stage, the race to the playoffs is heating up. Gujarat Titans, RCB, and Punjab Kings hold the edge, while MI and DC remain strong challengers. KKR and LSG will need not just wins, but also luck, to stay alive in what promises to be an intense finish to the league phase.
