Islamabad United have been handed a timely boost ahead of the resumption of Pakistan Super League (PSL X), as seasoned overseas batters Rassie van der Dussen and Alex Hales are set to rejoin the squad. Their return comes at a crucial time, with the team looking to bounce back after four straight defeats.
According to media reports, both players will be available for the rest of the tournament—welcome news for United, who have been dealing with several key player withdrawals. The team will be without the services of Jason Holder, Colin Munro, Riley Meredith, and Ben Dwarshuis, which has left gaps in their squad.
With Hales and van der Dussen back, Islamabad’s batting line-up is expected to get a much-needed lift as they push for a spot in the playoffs.
Van der Dussen, one of the most reliable overseas performers in PSL history, missed the early part of the tournament due to personal reasons despite being picked in the draft. Hales, a familiar face in the United camp, had gone undrafted this season but now returns to add depth and firepower to the team’s campaign.
Meanwhile, other PSL teams continue to struggle with the absence of key foreign players. Lahore Qalandars have lost all-rounder Sikandar Raza to national duties with Zimbabwe, while Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators are also facing challenges in finding suitable replacements.
