West Indies have named a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test home series against Pakistan, with left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop receiving his maiden Test call-up and batter Kirk McKenzie earning a recall to the red-ball side.
The biggest absentee from the squad is fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who was unavailable for selection due to personal reasons.
Bishop has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in domestic cricket. The left-arm orthodox spinner has claimed 119 wickets in 25 first-class matches at an impressive average of 23.90. He has also been the leading wicket-taker across the last three West Indies Championship seasons, taking 91 wickets during that period.
McKenzie returns to the Test squad for the first time since 2024 after replacing John Campbell, who has been ruled out with a left hamstring injury suffered during the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand.
The left-handed batter forced his way back into contention with an excellent West Indies Championship campaign, scoring 323 runs in six innings at an average of 64.60.
Fast bowler Anderson Phillip has been left out after featuring in West Indies’ previous Test against Sri Lanka. He picked up two wickets across the match while contributing a duck with the bat. Apart from those changes, the remainder of the squad is unchanged, with Jomel Warrican continuing as vice-captain.
The two-match Test series will be played from July 25 to August 6 at Tarouba and Port of Spain. The opening Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba will be the first Test match ever hosted at the venue.
Both teams will be looking to improve their standing in the ICC World Test Championship, with West Indies and Pakistan currently occupying the bottom two positions in the table. West Indies have won one of their 10 matches in the current cycle, while Pakistan have managed one victory from four Tests.
