Lahore is set to host the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier matches, with games scheduled to take place at two prominent cricket venues—the Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground. The tournament, which begins on April 9, will run for 10 days and feature 15 matches. At stake are two qualification spots for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, set to be held in India later this year in October-November.
A total of six teams will compete for the final two berths in the World Cup. Hosts Pakistan will be joined by West Indies, Bangladesh, and Ireland, along with Associate Member teams Scotland and Thailand. The latter two secured their spots based on their ICC rankings as of the October 28, 2024, cut-off date.
The competition will begin with a double-header on the opening day, where Pakistan will face Ireland, while West Indies will take on Scotland. At the end of the league stage, the top two teams in the standings will secure direct entry into the World Cup.
Meanwhile, six teams have already secured their places in the tournament. India, as the host nation, is joined by Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, all of whom qualified by finishing in the top six of the ICC Women’s Championship (2022-25).
With Lahore playing a key role in the qualification process, Pakistan will look to make the most of home advantage as they aim to secure a spot in the marquee event.
