The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to give Waqar Younis, the former head coach of the national team, the top position on the board.
According to Dawn News, after the bad performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the T20 World Cup, the second major decision has come after the removal of the senior manager and member of the selection committee, Wahab Riaz.
Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi will hand over all cricket matters to Waqar Younis, and he will only look after administrative matters. In particular, they will focus all their attention on the Champions Trophy scheduled for Pakistan in 2025.
Sources have said that Waqar Younis will look after men’s cricket matters, and all decisions regarding cricket will be the responsibility of Waqar Younis. At the same time, Waqar Younis will make all decisions, including international and domestic selection issues and NOC of players. will

Waqar Younis has previously coached the Pakistan cricket team twice, once as a bowling coach and once as a head coach with the PCB.
It should be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board expelled Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection committee, who played an important role in selecting the team for their poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Wahab Riaz was also dismissed from the position of senior manager.
In a statement issued by the PCB, it was said that the board no longer requires the services of Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq; Abdul Razzaq was a member of the selection committee of the national men’s and women’s cricket team, while Wahab Riaz was a member of the selection committee of the men’s team.
