The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Mohammad Rizwan as the captain for the ODI and T20 teams, with Salman Ali Agha as the vice-captain. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced this during a press conference in Lahore, stating, “Mohammad Rizwan will lead the white-ball teams, while Salman Ali Agha will be the vice-captain.”
He added, “The central contract list has been released, and the selectors have worked very hard. Babar Azam himself said that he wants to focus more on his batting and does not want to continue as captain. Babar Azam is an asset of Pakistan, and such players are rare.”
Mohsin Naqvi mentioned, “The mentors and selectors agreed that Rizwan should be the captain and Salman Ali Agha the vice-captain. We need to respect young talent and domestic cricketers. Our focus should be on the pool of 200 to 400 domestic cricketers, and we will provide the necessary support.”
The PCB Chairman also noted, “In the last two Tests, Aaqib Javed, the selectors, and the team worked very hard. We hope the team will perform well in Australia and Zimbabwe. The current combination is expected to deliver excellent results. We can’t make all eleven players captains, and no player can be allowed to oppose the selectors’ decisions.”
PCB Selection Committee member Aaqib Javed added, “Pakistan’s future in white-ball cricket is bright. Fitness should be the top priority in any form of cricket, and the ground staff’s hard work in Multan and Pindi has shown great results.”
Captain Mohammad Rizwan commented, “Our main goal is to take young talent to the international level. We are focused on the long term, and there will be no drop in performance. We leave the results to Allah, and the entire team is like a family to me.”
