England became the first team to score such a big score in Test cricket against Pakistan; the first Test match between Pakistan and England is currently underway at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
England broke India’s record of 675 runs set 20 years ago, in which India scored 675 runs for five wickets in the Multan Test in 2004.
It is only the fourth time in the history of Test cricket that more than 800 runs have been scored in an innings. The last feat to score more than 800 runs in an innings was Sri Lanka’s 952/6 against India in 1997.
England scored 903 against Australia in 1938 and 849 against the West Indies in 1930, three of the four totals of more than 800 in history.
Earlier in 1958, West Indies scored 790 for the loss of 3 wickets against Pakistan.
On the other hand, English batsmen Joe Root and Harry Brooke set a new record for England’s partnership; Joe Root and Harry Brooke scored 412 runs and set a new record.

Earlier, Peter May and Colin Cowdrey made a partnership of 411 runs for England; Peter May and Colin Cowdrey made this partnership against West Indies in 1957.
The highest partnership in Test cricket was 624 runs by Mahila Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara against South Africa in 2006.
