Former Test cricketer and current national team selector Muhammad Yusuf has resigned from his post after two and a half months.
Pakistan cricket team selector and former record-setting Test cricketer Muhammad Yousuf has resigned from the position of selector, citing personal reasons.
After resigning, Muhammad Yusuf said that he was resigning from the position of selector of the Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. It has been an honour to serve an incredible team.
The former captain further said that while expressing good wishes for the national cricket team, he said that there is immense trust in the talent and passion of the players. I am proud to have played a role in the development and success of Pakistan Cricket.
It should be noted that Muhammad Yusuf is one of the most successful batsmen in Pakistan, scoring 7530 Test runs and 9720 ODI runs in his career from 1998 to 2010. He holds the distinction of scoring the most runs in Test cricket in a calendar year (2006) with 1788 runs.
However, his career as a selector was not successful. Muhammad Yusuf took over as a selector in July this year and was also among the selectors who selected the team for the T20 World Cup. The team was already eliminated in the first round of the mega event.
Mohammad Yousuf and the selectors also picked the national team that recently whitewashed Pakistan in its home Test series.
