The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced central contracts for 25 men’s cricketers for the 2024-25 international season. In the statement issued by the PCB, it was mentioned that former captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have managed to retain their places in Category A, while Shaheen Afridi has been demoted.
Former captain Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Test team captain Shan Masood have been included in Category B. Similarly, Category C includes Abdullah Shafique, Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Noman Ali, Haris Rauf, and Saim Ayub.
Category D features Aamer Jamal, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Mohammad Harira, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shehzad, Mohammad Ali, Usman Khan, Irfan Khan Niazi, Haseebullah, Abbas Afridi, and Kamran Ghulam.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the one-year central contracts for the players after a delay of five months, which will be effective from July 1, 2024. The board has provided opportunities to young players in the new central contracts to encourage them. The five players who have been given central contracts for the first time are Khurram Shehzad, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Irfan Khan, and Usman Khan.
