The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the formation of a new selection committee.
The committee includes well-known former cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq as well as foreign coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten.
Captains Shan Masood and Babar Azam, who lead the men’s white and red ball teams, will also play an essential role in the selection committee.
The newly formed committee’s first task will be to select the team for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will be hosted in Pakistan next month.
Sources say Jason Gillespie will assist the team in selecting the red-ball squad and play an essential role in choosing the white-ball team.
It should be noted that yesterday, PCB confirmed the separation of Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection committees and said they do not need any more services in the men’s and women’s selection committees.
Wahab Riaz responded by saying that there is a lot to say, but I don’t want to be part of any blame game. My journey with PCB as a selection committee member is over. He said that he served the game he loved with all honesty. Wahab Riaz said that it was very good to work with the seven-member selection committee.
The former selection committee member said that all the members made the selection as a team, of which I am proud to be a part.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the development in an official statement on Wednesday morning: “It has informed Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services are no longer required in the national selection committee set-up. will remain.”
