Salman Agha will captain a new-look Pakistan squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which will be held in Mirpur, Dhaka, from July 20 to 24. The side will be without two of its experienced players, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf, who are both unavailable due to injuries.
Pakistan’s squad has been reduced by one player compared to their last T20I series, which was also against Bangladesh but at home in May and June this year. Pakistan had swept that series 3-0. Shadab Khan recently underwent shoulder surgery and is currently in rehabilitation, while Haris Rauf has been ruled out due to a hamstring issue that also forced him to miss San Francisco Unicorns’ MLC 2025 playoff matches.
Other players missing out this time include Irfan Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim and Naseem Shah. In their place, Pakistan have called up a mix of uncapped and relatively inexperienced players. Medium pacer Ahmed Daniyal and left-arm quick Salman Mirza are yet to make their international debuts. Left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem has played just ten T20Is so far, while top-order batter Hasan Nawaz has eight T20Is under his belt since debuting earlier this year. Abbas Afridi, the medium pacer, is among the more experienced names with 21 T20Is since his debut last year.
Several of these players performed well in the Pakistan Super League earlier this year. Abbas Afridi was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 17 wickets from 11 matches for Karachi Kings. Salman Mirza made an impression for Lahore Qalandars, picking up nine wickets in just four games. Hasan Nawaz also stood out as the third-highest run-scorer in the PSL, amassing 399 runs in ten innings for Quetta Gladiators at a strike rate of 162.19.
This will be Pakistan’s second T20I series under new white-ball coach Mike Hesson as the team looks ahead to the next T20 World Cup, which is scheduled for early 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the squad for the white-ball series against West Indies in early August will be announced later, according to the PCB.
