The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Shaheen Afridi as the captain of the national ODI team for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa.
The decision was made during a meeting in Islamabad, attended by head coach Mike Hesson, director of high performance Aaqib Javed, and members of the selection committee.
Pakistan and South Africa will face each other in the ODI series from November 4 to 8 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
Shaheen, 25, has represented Pakistan in 66 ODIs and 92 T20Is, taking a combined total of 249 wickets across both formats. He has also claimed 120 wickets in 32 Test matches. The ongoing Rawalpindi Test against South Africa is not included in these figures.
Earlier in 2024, Shaheen captained Pakistan in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
