The International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled for West Indies and America will start on June 1 next month, but many big records are expected to be broken in this mega event.
This tournament is being organized between 1st and 29th June 2024 in the USA and West Indies. This is the ninth edition of the T20 Cricket World Cup and this time 20 teams will participate in it.
Here are some records that could be broken in this T20 World Cup:
Most fours
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahila Jayawardene holds the record for the highest number of fours in the ICC T20 World Cup and has a record of 113 fours in the shortest format, which can be broken in this edition.
India’s Virat Kohli is second on the list with 103 fours, while Rohit Sharma with 91 and David Warner occupy the third and fourth positions with 86 fours respectively.
Most runs in an edition
With the addition of 20 teams in this edition, the number of matches has also increased significantly, while the number of runs is also expected to increase. The record for most runs in one edition of the World Cup is also held by India’s Virat Kohli. Who scored 319 runs in 6 matches in 2014, there is a strong possibility of breaking this record in this season.
Fastest century
Chris Gayle’s record of fastest century in the T20 World Cup, who scored centuries in 47 and 50 balls, is in danger.
Nepal’s John Nicol Lofty recently set a new record by scoring a century in just 33 balls.
Most Catches as a Fielder
The cricketer with the most catches as a fielder in T20 World Cup matches is AB de Villiers, who took 23 in the mega event, followed by Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell, who held 16 and 16 respectively, dominating the fielding. This battle can add more life to the tournament.
