Two key International Cricket Council (ICC) officials have resigned over the T20 World Cup 2024 irregularities. The officials resigned before the ICC annual meeting in Colombo on July 19.
According to media reports, Head of Events Chris Tetley and GM Marketing and Communications Claire Furlong have resigned from their posts, both officials resigning ahead of the ICC Annual Meeting starting July 19 in Colombo.
Two ICC officials resigned amid calls for an investigation, but the world cricket body did not issue a statement regarding the resignations. The World Cup held in America and the West Indies was not pleasant, and several board members complained.
ICC Director Pankaj Khimji has called for an inquiry into the T20 World Cup over budgeting and has written a letter to review and audit cost overruns. Resignations have started coming in.
Money flowed like water during the T20 World Cup, which increased expenses and decreased revenue. The USA was the co-host of the event but was a spectator. No USA Cricket official had any responsibility, and all the issues came. The CC officials and the ICC also picked officials for the T20 USA. CEO Brett Jones was also close to Chris Tetley.
