The upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup is set to make history with a record prize pool of USD 13.88 million, marking a massive increase from previous editions. The tournament will begin on September 30 in India and Sri Lanka, featuring the highest rewards ever for women’s cricket.
This prize pool is almost four times higher than the previous World Cup in New Zealand in 2022, which offered USD 3.5 million. It also surpasses the USD 10 million prize money from the Men’s ODI World Cup held in India two years ago.
For the first time, the winners will receive USD 4.48 million, a 239% increase from the USD 1.32 million awarded to Australia in 2022. The runners-up will earn USD 2.24 million, up from USD 600,000 three years ago, while the losing semi-finalists will each pocket USD 1.12 million, compared to USD 300,000 in the last edition. Teams exiting at the group stage will be guaranteed USD 250,000.
Additional rewards include USD 34,314 for each group-stage win. Teams finishing fifth and sixth will receive USD 700,000 each, and those in seventh and eighth place will get USD 280,000.
ICC chair Jay Shah said, “Our message is simple: women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally. This uplift underscores our ambition to deliver a world-class Women’s Cricket World Cup and inspire the next generation.”
Despite the tournament being less than a month away, tickets are not yet on sale. The ICC has confirmed they will be available online this week. For comparison, tickets for the 2022 edition were released six months in advance.
