Bangladesh’s Women’s Twenty20 World Cup is in jeopardy due to the recent unrest in Dhaka. The International Cricket Council says we are closely monitoring the security situation; the matches will be held in Dhaka and Sahel.
According to the details, Bangladesh is supposed to host the Twenty20 Women’s World Cup in October this year, but due to the current situation in the country, this dream seems to be shattered; reports of 39 people have been killed so far in clashes between students and the police. While the number of injured persons is hundreds, this situation has also worried the ICC.
The ICC, a key player in ensuring the safety of the Women’s T20 World Cup, has been actively monitoring the security situation. A spokesperson for the council, speaking to a foreign news agency, confirmed this, stating that they are closely watching the situation in Bangladesh. An anonymous member of the ICC board further reassured that the council’s independent security monitoring system is in place and actively assessing the current situation in Bangladesh.
The World Cup will be played from October 3 to 20. The Australian team will defend the title, which the Kangaroos won by defeating South Africa in the final. The ninth World Cup matches will be played in Dhaka and Sylhet, and the Lions will play in the final. The National Cricket Stadium is located in Dhaka.
The tournament will see two groups competing for the title. Group A, which includes defending champions Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, promises to be a fierce battle. Group B, on the other hand, features the hosts Bangladesh, England, Scotland, South Africa, and West Indies. The opening match between England and South Africa will kick off the tournament in Dhaka on October 3.
