From a small town near Layyah to the international stage, Muhammad Hassan Nawaz journey is nothing short of inspirational. Born on August 21, 2002, Hassan Nawaz has rapidly emerged as one of Pakistan’s most exciting T20 prospects, known for his explosive batting and fearless approach.
Early Life & Beginnings
Growing up in a town just 6 kilometers from Layyah in southern Punjab — a region with little exposure to professional cricket — Hassan’s early cricketing experiences came through tape-ball matches. With limited opportunities in his hometown, he made a bold move to Islamabad under the pretense of studying and began living with his sister, who supported his cricketing dreams.
At the age of 14, he joined Lashings Cricket Club, where he played for six years, gradually climbing the ranks in the Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) League. Later, he joined the Lucky Star Cricket Club and represented ICA at the Under-19 level. His consistent performances eventually led to a breakthrough opportunity in 2022 when he was picked for the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).
Domestic Rise
Hassan Nawaz grabbed attention in the 2022 edition of the KPL, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer for Mirpur Royals. His ability to take on bowlers from the start made him a valuable T20 asset. This performance paved the way for his inclusion in Northern’s squad for the 2022–23 National T20 Cup.
His growing reputation earned him a spot with Islamabad United in PSL Season 8, and more recently, he has been picked by Quetta Gladiators for PSL Season 10 — a clear sign of his rising stock in Pakistan’s T20 ecosystem.
International Breakthrough
In March 2025, Hassan received his first international call-up for Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand. He made his T20I debut on March 16 at Hagley Oval but had a disappointing start, getting out for a duck.
However, he bounced back in style. After back-to-back ducks in his first two matches, Hassan stunned everyone on March 21, 2025, when he smashed a record-breaking T20I century, scoring 105 off just 45 balls. It was not only his maiden T20I hundred, but also the fastest T20I century by a Pakistani, showcasing his resilience and raw power.
