Bangladesh have recalled senior batter Najmul Hossain Shanto for their T20 squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Shanto is the biggest inclusion in Bangladesh’s full-strength 15-member squad after recently leading the team to a memorable Test victory over Australia in Darwin.
Litton Das has also returned to the squad and will captain Bangladesh after missing their last two T20 assignments. He was sidelined by injury during the home series against Australia before missing the Zimbabwe tour due to his Lanka Premier League commitments.
Towhid Hridoy, who captained Bangladesh in Zimbabwe, has been appointed vice-captain. Litton’s return means wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan has been left out of the squad.
The team will also be without pacers Taskin Ahmed and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, while Nahid Rana remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a side strain. Bangladesh will still have a strong pace attack featuring Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud.

Bangladesh will begin their Asian Games campaign directly in the quarterfinal stage on September 29. They are among the four seeded teams alongside India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, all of whom have secured direct entry into the quarterfinals.
