England suffered a setback in the Champions Trophy 2025 as bowling all-rounder Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the tournament due to a toe injury. Carse played in England’s defeat to Australia, scoring eight runs and recording figures of 1 for 69 in seven overs. Leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has been named as his replacement.
Carse was part of England’s recent tour of India, featuring in four of the five T20Is and the first ODI before being replaced by Jamie Overton in the second match. Overton took two wickets in Cuttack and is expected to feature in England’s must-win clash against Afghanistan on February 26.
Rehan, who did not play in the India ODIs, has previously featured in six ODIs for England. His inclusion strengthens England’s spin attack, led by Adil Rashid, with Joe Root and Liam Livingstone providing additional options in the middle overs.
