South Africa defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the Cape Town Test, completing a clean sweep in the two-match series.
In the first innings, South Africa set a massive total of 615 runs. In response, Pakistan was bowled out for 194 runs. Following on, Pakistan made a strong comeback by scoring 478 runs in their second innings, taking a 57-run lead. However, South Africa easily chased down the target without losing any wickets.
Despite avoiding an innings defeat, Pakistan couldn’t save the match. Key performances included Shan Masood’s 145, Babar Azam’s 81, and Agha Salman’s 48 runs.
On the fourth day, Pakistan resumed at 213/1. Nightwatchman Khurram Shehzad was dismissed for 18 runs. In the middle order, Kamran Ghulam scored 28, and Saud Shakeel contributed 23 runs. Captain Shan Masood led from the front with a brilliant 145-run innings. Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman added 88 runs together, scoring 41 and 48 runs respectively. Aamir Jamal chipped in with 34 runs, while injured Saim Ayub couldn’t bat, leading to Pakistan’s total of 478.
South Africa comfortably reached the target of 58 runs without losing any wickets, with Beudenham scoring 44 and Markram 14.
Ryan Rickelton was named Player of the Match for his outstanding 259-run innings in the first innings, featuring three sixes and 29 fours. Marco Jansen was awarded Player of the Series for his consistent performances throughout.
