The uncertainty surrounding Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma’s participation in the captains’ event in Pakistan remains unresolved.
According to a cricket website, there has been no clarification regarding whether Rohit Sharma will travel to Pakistan. The captains’ event for the Champions Trophy is tentatively scheduled to take place on February 16 or 17 in Karachi.
The Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Devajit Saikia, stated that no discussions have been held about Rohit Sharma visiting Pakistan. He added that this matter is not currently on the agenda.
There is still no confirmation on whether the Indian Board requires government approval for Rohit’s visit.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already emphasized to the International Cricket Council (ICC) that all matters should be handled according to policies and traditions.
Additionally, the issue of Pakistan’s name being displayed on the Indian team’s jersey has already been resolved, with the Indian Secretary confirming that ICC regulations will be followed.
It is worth noting that before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, no captains’ press conference was held as the participating teams were busy with warm-up matches across cities in the West Indies and the USA.
The cricketing world eagerly awaits clarity on whether Rohit Sharma will attend the event in Pakistan, as it could hold symbolic significance in fostering better relations between the two cricketing nations.
